The School
Thank you for your enquiry about this current vacancy. I am pleased to enclose information about the post and the school. Please also visit our website www.olcc.lancs.sch.uk for other useful information and particularly our latest Ofsted, Denominational Reports and school prospectus.
It is an exciting time to be joining Our Lady's as our numbers have been growing for the last four years and we are now oversubscribed in Year 7 for the current year and the following year. Prior to the pandemic, our academic success consistently places us in the top 10% nationally for pupil progress at KS4. At KS5 our students are again in the top 3 non-selective schools in Lancashire for facilitating subjects and the average Vocational Level 3 grade is Distinction *.
We are proud of our Catholic faith and although many of our pupils and staff are not Catholic they appreciate the benefits that working within a caring Catholic community brings to everyone. The whole community of Our Lady’s is working to St. Oscar Romero’s ideal of “Aspire not to have more, but to be more”. We pride ourselves on how our young people put their faith into action and use their gifts to help those less fortunate than themselves.
We believe in providing a curriculum that is both ambitious and inclusive for all. We have developed curricula that promote awe and wonder in the different disciplines across school as well as ensuring that lessons are challenging and engaging for our pupils. At Our Lady’s Catholic College, we understand the importance of engaging with educational research in order to continually improve and as such promote staff to engage with a range of CPD.
As a Catholic school, we are also inspected by the Diocese of Lancaster and in February 2018 they confirmed we were still an outstanding Catholic School.
What Denomination inspectors said about us:
“A school which is universally inclusive and focuses on developing and celebrating the talents of all who work and learn there.”
“Pupils take pride in their school and believe that they are better people for attending here.’
“Catholic leadership of Our Lady’s Catholic College is outstanding and exemplified by the inspirational and deeply caring guidance of the headteacher.”
“Staff feel very positive about the school. The commitment of staff to all aspects of their work is profound. They are happy, see purpose in their work, and recognise clearly how this fits in with the Catholic mission.”
Should you be successful in your application to join us, we can promise you a challenging and fulfilling experience. This position offers you the opportunity to make a crucial contribution to the future success and wellbeing of our young people.
