Teaching Assistant job summary
We are looking for a dedicated, nurturing and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our team at Gorefield Primary Academy. This role will involve supporting children in both Reception and Key Stage 1, so school experience within the early years and lower primary is essential. You will work 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday with a 1/2 hour unpaid lunch break.
We reserve the right to interview and appoint prior to this date.
We are looking for someone with recent, relevant experience in a school setting who will bring enthusiasm and a commitment to children's learning to our happy and friendly small village school. The ideal candidate will have a range of experience working across both Reception and Key Stage 1 and understand the importance of the smooth transition between Reception and Year 1. You will assist the class teacher in the delivery of high Quality First Teaching, as well as supporting children one-to-one in the classroom and at unstructured times as needed. There may also be some opportunity for whole class teaching cover.
The right candidate will need to be adaptable, enthusiastic, highly motivated and have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. They must demonstrate full commitment to the school, its vision and its aim to raise standards.
The ideal candidate will have:
- School-based experience is essential;
- The ability to build positive relationships with children, parents/carers and colleagues;

- Enthusiasm, creativity and a genuine passion for helping young children learn and thrive;
- Good organisational and time-management skills;
- Patience, a positive outlook and a great sense of humour;
- Excellent communication skills, including high levels of spoken and written Standard English.
