What skills and experience we're looking for

Mornington Primary School has an exciting opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our established and supportive team.

This role will primarily involve working in Key Stage 1, with a strong focus on providing one-to-one support for a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Flexibility and a hardworking attitude are essential, as the role may also include supporting other children with SEND across the phase. Ideally, the successful candidate will have experience of working in a school environment, supporting both classes and individual pupils, and will demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for improving outcomes for all learners. A tolerant and compassionate nature, along with a good sense of humour, would be a great asset to our team.

The successful candidate will need to be:

  • An excellent Teaching Assistant who is passionate about inspiring children to achieve high standards and reach their full potential.
  • A strong team player who can work collaboratively with others and contribute to the school’s ethos and improvement initiatives.
  • Enthusiastic and positive in their approach to supporting teaching and learning.
  • Committed to maintaining high expectations for both themselves and the children they support.
  • Passionate about educating and developing the whole child, both academically and personally.
  • Able to promote inclusion effectively and maintain high expectations for all pupils, regardless of background or ability.
  • Confident and experienced in working 1:1 with children, providing tailored support that meets individual needs and fosters progress both academically and emotionally.
