Teaching Assistant job summary

The Avenue Primary School and Children’s Centre is looking for a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its friendly team and provide support to pupils, with effect from November 2025.

Working Hours: Part Time (20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year, no Teacher Training Days). Contract: Fixed Term (until 25th July 2026).

We are a vibrant co-educational, non-denominational primary school, educating children between the ages of 3 and 11. Located in the charming garrison town of Warminster, Wiltshire, our staff are dedicated to creating a safe and exciting place for children to thrive and learn. As a Teaching Assistant, you must be able to work across all age ranges, and be prepared to work flexibly to support children of all abilities, including those requiring SEND support, liaising with teachers and SENDCO.


We and are looking for someone who:

  • Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their development;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and are able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • is a strong team player, who can use their own initiative;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude;
  • Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training;
  • Has experience of supporting children’s learning.
