Teaching Assistants job summary

New Close Primary School is looking to appoint two enthusiastic and motivated Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated team of staff, starting as soon as possible.

Working Hours: Part time (28.75 hours, Monday – Friday, 38 weeks per year, term-time only, no Teacher Training days). Contract: Fixed term (until 25th July 2026). Required: ASAP.

As a Teaching Assistant, you must be able to work across all age ranges within our school and be prepared to work flexibly to support children of all abilities, including those requiring SEND support, liaising with teachers and SENDCO. The role may require you to work on a one-to-one basis with children with EHCPs in place.

  • Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for young people;
  • Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents;
  • Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
  • Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
  • Enjoys working with children and can develop good working relationships with them;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Is a strong team player, who can use their own initiative;
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people, including their social and emotional wellbeing;
  • Has experience of supporting children’s learning;
  • Has a positive and flexible attitude.
