Teaching Assistant job summary

About this Role

Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEND team, you will support students with SEND, SEMH and additional learning needs both within the classroom and through targeted interventions.

We currently have two Teaching Assistant opportunities available:

  • 1 x Permanent position
  • 1 x Temporary maternity cover position

Both roles are term time only, 32.5 hours per week.

You will:

Support students in accessing learning across a range of curriculum areas

Provide in-class support for students with SEND, including those with EHCPs

Deliver targeted interventions to individuals and small groups

Support students with social, emotional and communication needs

Promote student independence, confidence and engagement in learning

Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt resources and support strategies

Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to staff and leaders

Help maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment

Support students during unstructured times and wider school activities

Contribute to SEND reviews and wider pastoral support where appropriate

We are looking for someone who:

Has GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above

Has experience working with children or young people aged 11-16

Is passionate about inclusion and supporting young people to succeed

Can build positive relationships with students and motivate learners

Has strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills

Is adaptable, patient and resilient in a fast-paced environment

Understands the importance of safeguarding and student wellbeing

Can work collaboratively as part of a wider team

Is willing to engage in ongoing professional development
