Teaching Assistant job summary

We are seeking a dedicated and caring EYFS Teaching Assistant to join the supportive team in our combined Nursery and Reception class. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a nurturing and inclusive school environment where every child is encouraged to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

We are looking for someone passionate about supporting children’s learning and development, including pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and who is committed to making a positive difference in school life.

Key Responsibilities

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support teaching and learning in the classroom, working with individuals and small groups
  • Deliver targeted interventions and structured support programmes under teacher/SENDCo guidance
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet the needs of all learners, including SEND and EAL pupils
  • Promote pupil independence, engagement, resilience, and wellbeing
  • Assist with classroom organisation, displays, and learning resources
  • Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff
  • Support pupils’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and personal development
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals
  • Supervise pupils during breaktimes, lunchtimes, and other school activities as required
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

  • Has experience working with primary-aged children (school-based experience desirable)
  • Has a good understanding of supporting children with SEND and inclusive practice
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
  • Can work effectively as part of a team while using initiative independently
  • Is organised, adaptable, and committed to high standards
  • Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
