Queen Katharine Academy is a rapidly expanding Academy in Peterborough. Due to recent promotions within the Academy we are looking to increase our team of teaching assistants who want to make a difference to our students and join our enthusiastic, hard-working and committed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities team.

The school caters for students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, including those with Educational and Health Care Plans.

Your role will be to work with students in the classroom and to work with small groups, supporting them to access learning activities to meet their needs. You will also be required to support students in providing personal and intimate care as some of our students need assistance with everyday activities.

The department is well resourced and includes fantastic practitioners. We are looking to appoint a colleague who shares our vision and determination to help every student achieve their potential.

The successful candidate must:

Be willing to undertake personal care training or is trained and has experience

Be a team player
Be pro-active
Show initiative
Adopt a consistent approach to all students
Be flexible

The ability to establish mutually respectful and supportive relationships with our students is essential to the role of a Teaching Assistant. The role will be challenging but rewarding and experience of working with students of secondary school age would be an advantage although not essential. We would consider personality and commitment of the utmost importance. Full training will be given.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a school within one of the most well-regarded Trusts in the eastern region. The school has a great history of success and a bright and exciting future. We are looking for an ambitious and dynamic teaching assistant as we enter the next stage of our development and growth.

Collaboration, educational research and professional development are at the core of how the schools within Thomas Deacon Education Trust work together. With a clear focus on colleagues at all levels, the Trust is well placed to provide great opportunities.

At Queen Katharine Academy, you will be given effective support to develop as an outstanding TA.

The Trust offers:

Excellent salary package.

Fantastic training/CPD opportunities in a friendly supportive environment.

Opportunity for progression across Thomas Deacon Education Trust.

Use of Academy facilities (including a gym and onsite car parking).

An engaging, creative and welcoming environment to learners who take pride in their school.

An inclusive and collaborative approach.

A talented, highly motivated, committed and professional team of colleagues, both within the school and across the trust.

An actively supportive Local Academy Committee and Trust leadership.

Thomas Deacon Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The Academy will require the successful candidate to provide satisfactory references and undertake an Enhanced Check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
