Teaching Assistant

Pickwick Academy Trust would like to recruit a permanent, part-time Teaching Assistant based at Queen’s Crescent School.

Hours:

26.25 hours per week, 8.40am-12.00noon and 1.00pm-2.55pm Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time only, excluding TD days).

Salary range:

D4-D6, £23,114 - £23,893 pro rata, per annum (actual salary £13,743 - £14,206 per annum), depending on experience.

Required to start: 1st September 2024

Queen’s Crescent School is a two-form entry primary school, based in Chippenham with over 400 pupils on roll across 14 classes. In 2014 the school became a single academy trust and subsequently joined Pickwick Academy Trust in 2017 as one of the four founding schools. Queen’s Crescent is a vibrant school and our energetic, caring and positive staff are committed to providing the best primary education for all of our children.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced, delivered by means of stimulating learning enquiries that build on prior knowledge and skills, preparing each individual for the next phase of their education and life beyond school. We are currently investing significantly in our IT infrastructure and technology to support the delivery of the curriculum enabling our teachers to teach in new and dynamic ways which in turn results in fantastic outcomes for our children.

As a Teaching Assistant you must be committed and flexible, be able to support groups and individual children with their learning. Being able to work as part of a team is essential as well as being able to use your own initiative. The successful candidates will need excellent communication and liaison skills and will be closely supported by a class teacher and wider team.

Duties will include:

Supporting pupils learning, either in groups or through 1:1 work. The exact tasks will depend on the learning support needs of the pupil/s

Supporting pupils self-esteem, inclusion and behavioural development

Provide physical/personal care to pupils where required

Supporting the teacher/s

Supporting the curriculum - Support the delivery of the English and Mathematics curriculum along with other aspects of both the National Curriculum and the enhanced curriculum offered by the school.

Support the schoole.g.assisting with setting up, storing and retrieving and general maintenance of classroom equipment and teaching aids.

The jobholder must demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This will involve undertaking annual Safeguard training and using school reporting systems for any Safeguard concerns.
