11 hours 40 minutes per week, 1pm - 3.20pm, Monday to Friday. Grade 5 Sp 6 £25,989 FTE. with Actual Salary £7,082.31

with additional Lunchtime Supervisor contract for 1.5 hours per day, 11.30am - 1pm, Monday to Friday. Grade 2 Sp3 £24,796 with Actual Salary £4,342.69

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant on a fixed-term basis to join St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Cannock, part of St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, starting in April 2026. In addition to this post, the successful candidate will be offered a separate contract of employment for lunchtime supervisor duties.

About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the learning and development of our pupils. You will work closely with teachers to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support, helping to create a positive, nurturing, and well-organised classroom environment. Your contribution will help maintain the warm, caring atmosphere that makes our school community so special.

Main Responsibilities:

  • SEND TA
  • Provide high-quality pastoral and learning support in a caring, inclusive environment
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required, promoting independence and wellbeing
  • Implement Individual Education, Behaviour, and Care Plans in collaboration with the class teacher and SENDCo
  • Deliver targeted intervention programmes (e.g. Speech and Language, physical or therapeutic activities)
  • Monitor, record, and report on pupils’ progress, behaviour, and wellbeing
  • Support pupils’ access to the curriculum using agreed strategies and specialist resources
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENDCo, parents/carers, and external professionals
  • Contribute to a safe, positive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Additional Responsibilities (under a separate lunchtime supervision contract):
  • Supervising pupils during the lunchtime period to ensure their safety and wellbeing
  • Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging safe, inclusive play
  • Supporting pupils’ social development and positive relationships during lunchtime
  • Working as part of the lunchtime team to maintain a calm and orderly environment

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is:

Caring, patient, and committed to supporting pupils’ learning and development
Friendly, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Reliable, organised, and able to manage tasks effectively in a busy classroom environment
Proactive and able to use initiative to support both teachers and pupils
A strong team player, willing to collaborate with colleagues to meet the needs of all pupils
Flexible and willing to learn, including adapting to new teaching methods and school systems
