We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant, to our KS2 team.  You will promote the learning and personal development of pupils, enabling them to make the best use of the educational opportunities available to them. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a strong, supportive team within our popular school.

The role  is for 27.5 hours hours a week, Monday to Friday -  school hours term time.   This post is fixed-term  initially but this could be extended into a permanent role.

The ideal candidate will be able to think on their feet; working both independently and as part of the team, to promote and demonstrate resilience and flexibility as a positive role model for our children.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and be committed to promoting inclusive learning opportunities whilst also considering individual children's special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and the development of children's emotional well-being.

The successful candidates will have a GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths (C or above) and a high standard of written and spoken English.

Candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible as we reserve the right to withdraw the vacancy once we find suitable candidates.

In return we offer the successful candidate:

·       A positive and caring working environment

·       A friendly, dedicated, and supportive staff team

·       A well-resourced working environment

·       A strong commitment to CPD with quality mentoring and development support

We offer  a  EAP scheme and opportunities for continuous certificated learning - we are members of the National College (online) which is available to all staff, providing professional development for all our staff in line with our CPD and School Improvement requirements.

Our school is part of the Agora Learning Partnership (ALP), which consists of 10 schools and shares an Executive Headteacher with The Orchard Primary School.  The schools in the Trust maintain their own clear identity, however, working collaboratively within a trust means that there is a huge amount of opportunity and support for staff in each school.  Alban Wood is very friendly and welcoming and have supportive teams who are committed to ensuring that every child reaches their full potential and enjoys learning.

The Agora Learning Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils in its care and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. As part of creating a culture that safeguards and promotes the welfare of children in our schools, it is important that in our work to attract the most suitable, high calibre candidates, we adopt robust recruitment procedures that deter and prevent people who are unsuitable to work with children from:

  • Applying for or securing employment
  • Securing volunteering opportunities in our schools

The DfE’s Keeping Children Safe in Education, which is updated annually, sets out the legal requirements, the actions schools ‘should’ take and what is considered ‘best practice’ for safer recruitment.

All schools and the central team in the Agora Learning Partnership follow the guidance outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education, including:

  • Recruitment and selection processes
  • Pre-appointment vetting checks, regulated activity and recording information

All staff involved in recruitment and selection processes are fully trained and resourced to fulfil their responsibilities.

The Agora Learning Partnership recognises the value of, and seeks to achieve a diverse workforce which includes people from different backgrounds, with different skills and abilities. Our schools are also committed to ensuring that the recruitment and selection of all who work within the school are conducted in a manner that is systematic, efficient and effective and promotes equality of opportunity.

All post holders are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a Criminal Record Declaration Form prior to interview.

Further information about our school can be found on our website www.albanwood.herts.sch.uk  .
