What skills and experience we're looking for
Arundel Court Primary Academy
We are above average in size with approximately 680 pupils and a nursery on site. The school has been part of The University of Chichester Academy Trust since 2017 as a converter academy. An extensive new academy building programme (PSBP2) funded by the EFSA was completed in February 2020. In 2023, the school expanded further with the opening of our Nest, an inclusion centre for 24 children. We are an inclusive community that challenges and inspires children in a creative and engaging way, laying the foundations for life.
Position Description
School staff know that no two days are the same and that no two children are the same either. Supporting a wide range of learning activities, you will support the Class Teacher to ensure a safe environment, prepare resources, and in developing independent thinking and promoting excellent behaviour for learning. This may include supporting learners on a one-to-one or small group basis. This post will also include lunchtime supervision.
Experience of working with young people in an educational setting is desirable but we would also welcome applications who may wish to train or embark on a new, exciting career. If you have transferable skills and are passionate about education; committed to making a difference and have the know-how and skills to support learners; if you are able to balance care and support with challenge, rules and high expectations, we want to hear from you now!
In return, you will be part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, bringing you added benefits and opportunities. You will find that each of our Academies has a unique identity, but a shared belief in creating a positive and enriching environment, where all staff feel valued.
What the school offers its staff
The University of Chichester Academy Trust
You will be part of The University of Chichester Academy Trust, which is uniquely positioned to make a difference in the local educational landscape. The Trust currently encompasses 17 academies, 2 Inclusion centres, and a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training base, all based in Hampshire, Portsmouth, and West Sussex. While we share a common vision and values, each academy has its own identity that contributes to its local community. The Trust is committed to valuing the uniqueness of each school.
Two-Week October Half Term
We have introduced a two-week October half-term across all our schools. This initiative is already making a positive impact, giving staff and pupils a valuable break during the long autumn term, reducing absence through illness, and supporting overall well-being. It also brings greater consistency across our Trust, creating a more connected and efficient way of working. It’s just one example of how we prioritise our people and create a working environment where everyone can thrive.
Diversity and Inclusion
At the University of Chichester Academy Trust, we believe that diversity drives creativity, innovation, and excellence. We are committed to providing equality of opportunity, fostering an inclusive culture, and creating a community where everyone feels they belong. We particularly welcome applications from individuals who are underrepresented within our workforce, including those from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic backgrounds, disabled individuals, LGBTQI+ individuals, and women—especially for senior leadership roles.
Safeguarding Commitment
We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our recruitment and selection practices will reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks, along with other relevant employment checks.
