Teaching Assistant (Atlantis House) job summary

Required for a September 2024 start, we are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support students in our alternative provision, Atlantis House. This position would suit an individual who is supportive and is able to challenge students to achieve their full potential. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ attitude and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will also be required to support with a small number of lessons in the main Academy.

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Thursday 8:00am – 4:00pm and Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm, 37 hours per week for 39 working weeks per year (school term time plus 1 week).

The Academy

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED – December 2019), conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders, and benefits from excellent road and rail links.

The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018. This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion. The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

Atlantis House

Established in February 2013, Atlantis House has been a significant educational institution that underwent relocation to new premises in 2015, followed by refurbishment in 2016. Initially designed for OBA KS4 students with diverse needs, the facility aimed to address issues that previously led to a significant expenditure on alternative provision.

Currently accommodating 12 students across KS3 and KS4, with the capacity for 16, Atlantis House ensures continued support until post-16 education. Students receive a comprehensive education, completing a full set of GCSE qualifications, ensuring a well-rounded academic foundation.

Atlantis House has garnered acclaim for its achievements, including the OAT Gold Standard Innovative Practice Award and it has received commendations through excellent OAT reviews and Ofsted inspection reports. As a Centre of Expertise for Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) provision, it stands out for its commitment to providing a transformative educational experience.

The Trust
