As a Teaching Assistant, you will work under the guidance of the class teacher to support teaching and learning activities, help organise and manage pupils and the classroom, assist in creating a positive learning environment, promote inclusion and equal learning opportunities for all students, and ensure the welfare and safety of children and young people within the school.

What will you do?

  • The role involves supporting pupils, by delivering learning programs, encouraging interaction, and assisting with personal needs.
  • The support also extends to pastoral care, including helping pupils who are unwell or distressed.
  • For the teacher, the role includes preparing and maintaining classroom resources, providing feedback on pupil progress, and administering routine tests.
  • Additional responsibilities include general clerical tasks and ensuring adherence to school policies, particularly regarding health, safety, and child protection.
  • The role also involves supervising pupils during non-lesson times, assisting with school trips, and participating in training and professional development.

  • Experience of working with relevant age group within a learning environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people

What the school offers its staff

Avanti Meadows opened in September 2021 and was the first of three brand-new schools for the new all-through Learning Village and education provision in Bishop’s Stortford North. Our pupil numbers are steadily increasing: we started with 35 children in 2021 and we are now exceeding 220, with nine classes through the school. At full capacity, Avanti Meadows will be a three-form entry primary school, with 620 children, and will continue to provide parents and pupils with the highest standards of education and pastoral care.

The site for Avanti Meadows is a brand-new building with contemporary and first-class facilities, which makes for a unique learning experience.

This school will be the latest in the development of the Avanti Schools Trust who already have several highly successful schools in operation and I am very proud and honoured to have been appointed as the Executive Principal Designate for this new member to our family of schools.

Avanti Meadows Primary School will provide parents and pupils with the highest standards of education and pastoral care. We want our children to take pride in the new school and for every member of the school community to work hard to provide high quality education, care and support for every child and every family. We will set the highest expectations from the outset to ensure that we provide creative learning experiences which inspire and challenge our pupils to achieve the very best in all aspects of their learning.

The site for Avanti Meadows will be a brand new building and the facilities will be bespoke, contemporary and first-class, which will make for a unique learning experience. We are working in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council to ensure that careful planning and preparation is in place to make Avanti Meadows a first-choice school for the children of Bishop’s Stortford North. This is a very exciting time for all of us as we see the new school develop towards the opening date of September 2021
