SEN Teaching Assistant job summary

Salary: Grade 5, Point 5-6: £17,289 - £17,563 per annum (subject to experience)

Contract: Fixed Term until August 2026, 30 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time plus inset days)

This rewarding position involves supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, both in class and through targeted interventions. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to help plan, deliver, and assess learning activities tailored to individual needs.

As part of this role, you will also take on classroom responsibility, helping to lead sessions, manage behaviour, and ensure an inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children with special educational needs (essential)

  • Is confident in leading learning and managing a classroom environment

  • Can build positive, nurturing relationships with pupils

  • Works well as part of a team and uses initiative

  • Is patient, resilient, and adaptable

The successful candidate will have to meet the person specification, and the post is subject to safeguarding checks, including an enhanced DBS check and Children’s Barred List check. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
