What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a passionate Teaching Assistant who:

  • Educational Background: At least 5 GCSEs (including English and Maths at C or above) with a relevant teaching assistant qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred).
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of recent classroom support experience; additional experience with pupils with extra needs is desirable.
  • Skills & Behaviours: Strong communication, IT, teamwork, and organisational skills; ability to work independently, use initiative, and contribute to a collaborative teaching environment.
  • Professional Commitment: Willingness to pursue continuous professional development, demonstrate school values, and pass an enhanced DBS check (and ideally be a qualified first aider).
  • Passion for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all members of our school community.
  • Alignment with our trust-wide values by bringing a positive, collaborative approach to their work and a willingness to continuously develop professionally.

Your Role in Building Brighter Futures

As a Teaching Assistant at Chestnut Park, you will play a key role in contributing to the delivery of Futura’s mission statement of “Building the brightest future for all, enabling every individual to flourish”. We work in partnership with families and the local community to support the children, enabling them to develop and flourish, fulfilling their potential at school and in life as good citizens.

As Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

  • Pupil Support & Supervision: Ensure pupils’ safety, promote inclusion, and encourage independent learning by supervising classroom activities and out-of-class times (lunchtimes, trips, exams).
  • Assisting Teaching Staff: Help with lesson planning, resource organisation, classroom management, and the development/implementation of individual education/behaviour plans.
  • Curriculum & Assessment Support: Aid in implementing local and national learning strategies (e.g. literacy and numeracy), use ICT effectively in lessons, and monitor/record pupils’ progress.
  • Safeguarding & Compliance: Uphold data protection, child safeguarding policies, and health and safety regulations in the school environment.
