Teaching Assistant job summary
We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic, and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant school community. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children’s learning and helping them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Work alongside the class teacher to support high‑quality teaching and learning across the classroom.
- Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils who may need additional help with literacy, numeracy, or social skills.
- Assist in preparing lesson materials, classroom resources, and learning activities.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that supports the emotional and academic development of all pupils.
- Support children with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) where required, following individual education plans and guidance from the SENCo.
- Supervise pupils during break times, transitions, and other non‑classroom activities.
- Help maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour, reporting to the class teacher as needed.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with staff, pupils, and families.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about working with children and supporting their development.
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Is patient, empathetic, and able to remain positive when faced with challenges.
- Demonstrates strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Shows initiative and can adapt to different classroom situations.
- Ideally has experience working in a primary school or childcare setting (not essential).
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not required depending on experience
