Teaching Assistant job summary

Due to increased numbers of children, we are looking to recruit a part-time teaching assistant, initially for one year. The post is based in our Key Stage One Class (Years 1 and 2), and would be providing support to individuals and groups within the class.

The hours of work would be 12.00 noon to 3.30pm, although there is some flexibility if needed. The job will be paid at Grade 4, Point 4 to 5 (£18,933 to £19,312 pro rata, which works out at around £9.81 to £10.01 per hour including holiday pay). Although it is a term time only job, the salary is paid in equal instalments over twelve months.

Dr South’s is a successful, rural primary school where all children are enabled to flourish academically, socially and in the wider curriculum. We are very lucky to have the purpose-built Lin Cooper Practical Skills Building for cookery and art activities, and additional funding means that all children attend outdoor learning sessions. It is very hard to get across in writing how the school works, so all potential applicants are invited to visit to get a feel for how we are different.

Islip is easy to get to from the A34, the M40 and from Oxford itself. We have strong links with the local church and we are proud to have been serving the Islip community for over 300 years. Come and meet us and find out how you can be part of our onward journey! I would be very happy to show you round our lovely school, so do get in touch.

Commitment to safeguarding

ODST is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post involves the type of work with children and young people that requires applicants to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post. All applicants are considered confidentially and according to the nature of the role and information disclosed.
