Teaching Assistant job summary

Welcome to Dundale Primary School and Nursery

At Dundale, we believe that education should be an engaging, inspiring, and joyful adventure. As a proud member of the Ridgeway Learning Partnership, we provide a vibrant and nurturing environment where children aged 3 to 11 are encouraged to think big, aim high, and enjoy the learning journey.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated, and positive Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team. Whether you are looking for a full-time role or a flexible part-time position (minimum of 3 days per week), we want to hear from you.

The Role: Your Everyday Impact

As a Teaching Assistant, you will do much more than support a curriculum—you will build confidence, spark curiosity, and celebrate those wonderful "lightbulb moments." Working alongside our creative classroom teachers, your responsibilities will include:

  • Inspiring Learners: Supporting individual pupils (including those with SEN) or small groups to master new concepts and tackle learning challenges with confidence.

  • Creative Collaboration: Helping teachers prepare engaging learning materials and maintaining a well-organised, safe, and stimulating classroom environment.

  • Fostering Independence: Encouraging children to think for themselves, problem-solve, and take pride in their progress.

  • Spreading Positivity: Championing our school's Positive Behaviour Policy and ensuring every child feels safe, included, and valued.

What You Bring to the Team

We are looking for someone who combines a professional work ethic with a genuine passion for working with children. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A Nurturing Approach: A patient, warm, and adaptive mindset, with the ability to connect naturally with young minds.

  • Solid Foundation Skills: Strong standards of literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths) to confidently support our pupils.

  • Experience & Energy: Previous experience working with children within an educational or childcare setting is preferable but not essential, combined with a great sense of teamwork.

  • A Brilliant Sense of Humour: You understand that working with primary school children means expecting the unexpected. You can keep a straight face when presented with the wildest playground stories, laugh off the chaos of a rainy-day lunchtime, and bring a warm, bright energy to the staff room.

  • Unshakeable Patience: You understand that learning takes time and every child moves at their own pace. Whether it’s helping a pupil tie their shoelaces for the fourteenth time that morning, re-explaining a tricky maths concept, or gently guiding a child through a big emotion, your calm, reassuring presence never wavers.

  • Mastery of Classroom Logistics: You know your way around a glue stick, can track down a missing left-handed pair of scissors, and understand that standard-issue cardigan buttons have a mysterious habit of vanishing into thin air.

  • Safety First: A strong, unwavering commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • A welcoming, supportive, and collaborative staff team that genuinely feels like a community.

  • Excellent opportunities for professional development and training

  • A term-time schedule, offering a fantastic work-life balance (alongside unlimited tea, biscuits, and shared laughs during break duty).

Further information about the job

The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK.
