Teaching Assistant - EAL job summary

We have a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant to work as part of the Learning Support Team. You will support students for whom English is an additional language. In particular, we require someone who is able to speak Ukrainian and English to a high standard. The hours will be 8.30 a.m. – 3.30 p.m. with a half hour break for lunch. The successful candidate will have GCSE grade C or equivalent in English and Maths and good skills in ICT. This would be an ideal experience for a graduate looking for a career in teaching.

You will work with EAL students to help them adjust to education through the medium of English. The role will involve supporting students with SEND and EAL within their lessons up to GCSE level to ensure that they are able to become successful and independent learners. This role will also involve supporting students with personal care needs.

As such, all posts are subject to a safer recruitment process, including the disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks. We ensure that we have a range of policies and procedure in place, which promote safeguarding and safer working practice across the school.

Further details of the post are available from the school website: www.davenantschool.co.uk. A letter of application, along with a completed application form should be submitted to Marylyn Greengrass, Headteacher’s P.A. Marylyn.greengrass@davenant.org by the closing date, Monday 26 September.
