Every single morning at Edith Moorhouse Primary School starts with a distinct energy. The moment our pupils walk through the doors, there is an unmistakable buzz of children eagerly sharing ideas, ready and excited to learn.

As a Grade 4 Teaching Assistant within our team, you will not just be providing classroom support; you will be a collaborative partner in capturing that morning curiosity and turning it into learning success throughout the school day.

“What I value most about working here is that my voice as a support professional is genuinely respected. The teaching team relies on my observations of how children are responding to tasks, meaning we can adapt our approach on the spot to ensure every child makes progress.”

Why This Role Matters

In this role, your impact is immediate and visible. Working under the guidance of our teaching and senior staff, you will implement tailored support programmes that directly enable pupils to access the curriculum and build long-term independence. Whether you are helping a child navigate a complex math problem or guiding a small group outside the main teaching area, or working with a child with additional needs, you are key to maintaining our orderly, purposeful, and collaborative classroom culture.

What You’ll Bring
  • Experience with Children: Proven experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age, with a preference for those who have supported individuals with SEND.

  • Core Academic Skills: Strong mathematical and English communication skills to confidently support learning delivery and feedback.

  • Technical Literacy: Ability to make effective use of basic ICT packages to support classroom learning activities.

  • Professional Mindset: A collaborative approach to teamwork, an understanding of classroom boundaries, and the capacity to evaluate your own learning needs.

The “Why Us” Difference

At Edith Moorhouse Primary School, we recognize that support staff are integral professionals within our educational framework. We respect your time and focus our energy strictly on what is genuinely impactful for our pupils. You will work within a highly collaborative culture where your professional voice is valued, and you are given the agency to support classroom environments in a way that fits our unique community.

The RLT Connection

"Education has the power to change lives... we are better, faster, stronger together." As part of the River Learning Trust (RLT), you enjoy the stable foundations of a mature multi-academy trust alongside our school's distinct local identity.

  • Professional Security: Full recognition of continuous service for colleagues joining us from other government-funded schools, alongside a secure, government-backed pension scheme (LGPS).

  • Shared Growth: Access to the Trust’s Digital Learning Hub and online Career Pathways, with potential funding opportunities for professional qualifications and apprenticeships.

  • The Whole Person: A workload-sensitive employer committed to flexible working considerations, backed by 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for you and your immediate family.

River Learning Trust and Edith Moorhouse Primary School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism. We are an exempt employer under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act.

We actively value the "different contributions" you can make. We want you to be at your best during the application process; if you require any reasonable adjustments, please let us know.

Note: We do not accept CVs; please apply via My New Term. We reserve the right to interview and appoint exceptional candidates early.
