The role
At Elmwood School we are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our team and support high-quality teaching and learning across the school.
In this role, you will work under the guidance of teachers and senior staff to deliver planned learning activities for individuals or small groups, both inside and outside the classroom. You will assist with lesson planning, the preparation of learning resources, and the organisation of a positive and stimulating learning environment.
At times, you may also be required to supervise whole classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring a calm and productive atmosphere, maintaining good order, and keeping pupils engaged with set tasks.
About you
We are looking for a motivated and capable individual who can demonstrate the following:
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- NVQ Level 2/3 for Teaching Assistants (or equivalent qualification)
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills;
- Good IT and computer skills.
Personal Qualities:
- A positive, proactive attitude and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting pupils’ learning;
- Resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure;
- A willingness to work with and support pupils with challenging behaviour;
- Physically fit and able to implement the principles of Team Teach (Physical Interventions) following appropriate training;
- Willingness to drive school transport, if required.
About us
Elmwood School is an expanding SEMH school who have recently joined Matrix Academy Trust. The school currently cater for 83 pupils aged 11-16, offering a supportive and inclusive learning environment across three distinct areas of provision. Elmwood offer a broad and personalised curriculum, tailored to meet a wide range of abilities and needs, with qualifications up to and including GCSEs and BTECs.
