Teaching Assistant job summary
We are a busy all special educational needs school and looking to recruit fantastic Teaching Assistants to work in our school. Although not a prerequisite SEN experience will be welcome, however your 'can do' approach and willingness to actively join in are a really important asset that you will bring to the school. We are recruiting for Level 2 Teaching Assistants but we are also looking for experienced Level 4 Teaching Assistants who can join us and start supporting our amazing pupils and team from the get-go.
Billing Brook strives to give all our pupils the best education support and that’s how you can fit in.
Our TA posts are suited to those who are really passionate about working with pupils who have special educational needs and making a real difference to their lives. Previous experience would be desirable but not essential whereas your willingness to learn is vital to your success at Billing Brook School.
We welcome applications from candidates who have:
Excellent interpersonal skills and you relate to children and young people.
A good understanding of and demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting children with special educational needs
Practical experience or sound knowledge of children with autism in the classroom
Ideally good basic Level 2 English and Maths or demonstrating equivalent experience
A good team player
Successful applicants may be required to undertake further training, occasionally taking place when the school is closed.
We welcome applications from experienced candidates or those who are starting out their career and are willing to learn and grow within the school. We will also consider applications from new graduates who want SEND experience before embarking on their future teaching career and hopefully staying with us as they grow and develop.
All TA posts are subject to an Enhanced DBS clearance check as well as an acceptable health check and 2 references from previous employers that are satisfactory to the school and an essential part of our safer recruitment processes.
The positions are for 33.5 hours per week for 39 weeks of the year with an option to do an extra hour each week. Please note that we will consider part-time working but this requires working three days per week. Due to the needs of our students we cannot offer a reduced working day and our core school hours are 0830-1530.
BBS SCP point 4 - 7 (£19,613 to £20,561 based on a 39 week term-time contract working 33.5 hours per week which includes 5 training days)
