Every employee in our school is instrumental in our pupils' progress and we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant (Grade 2) to support our educational team in fostering a positive learning environment for children.

This role is essential in helping to create an inclusive atmosphere where all students can thrive and reach their full potential. As a Grade 2 Teaching Assistant at our school in Barnsley, you will offer more than classroom support. You will make connections, develop relationships and lead our pupils on the path to a bright future. This will include working under the guidance of a teacher to support the academic and personal development of children throughout the school day.

What you will do:

  • Assist the lead in class implementing relevant educational activities tailored to the needs of each child.

  • Provide individual support to students, especially those with special educational needs, ensuring they are engaged and included in all activities.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages learning and communication.

  • Communicate effectively with pupils to promote understanding and learning, using appropriate methods

  • Maintain a clean and safe classroom environment, ensuring all materials are organised and accessible.

  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to monitor student progress and share insights on individual needs.

What you will bring:

  • GCSE Math's and English or equivalent

  • Experience or interest in working with children/ young people with SEN / SEMH needs

  • Ability to relate to children and younger people to build positive relationships
