Teaching Assistant job summary

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference to children’s education and supporting them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support teaching and learning in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
  • Work with individuals and small groups to help pupils make progress across the curriculum
  • Provide pastoral support, promoting pupils’ wellbeing and emotional development
  • Support pupils with additional needs, including SEN and SEMH, following individual support plans
  • Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and interaction with others
  • Observe, record, and feedback on pupil progress, attainment, and barriers to learning
  • Support the teacher in managing behaviour and maintaining a safe learning environment
  • Provide 1:1 support or mentoring for pupils where required
  • Assist with classroom resources, organisation, and administrative tasks
  • Support school trips, visits, and extracurricular activities as required

  • Experience working with children in a school, early years or similar setting
  • Good understanding of supporting learning and behaviour in a classroom environment
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
