Teaching Assistant job summary
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference to children’s education and supporting them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities- Support teaching and learning in the classroom under the direction of the class teacher
- Work with individuals and small groups to help pupils make progress across the curriculum
- Provide pastoral support, promoting pupils’ wellbeing and emotional development
- Support pupils with additional needs, including SEN and SEMH, following individual support plans
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and interaction with others
- Observe, record, and feedback on pupil progress, attainment, and barriers to learning
- Support the teacher in managing behaviour and maintaining a safe learning environment
- Provide 1:1 support or mentoring for pupils where required
- Assist with classroom resources, organisation, and administrative tasks
- Support school trips, visits, and extracurricular activities as required
- Experience working with children in a school, early years or similar setting
- Good understanding of supporting learning and behaviour in a classroom environment
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach
