Teaching Assistant/Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary

We are expanding our team and looking to appoint multiple permanent Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs). In these roles, you will support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to help them achieve their full potential.

The Roles Available:

Because we are looking to recruit multiple people, we are looking for a mix of skills:

• General Classroom Support: Working in class with small groups and one-to-one across a range of subjects and age groups.
• ADT Support: The successful candidate for this role will specifically focus on supporting students within our Art, Design, and Technology (ADT) department—ideal for someone with a practical, creative, or hands-on background.
• HLTA Opportunities: Candidates undertaking the HLTA role will take on additional responsibilities commensurate with their qualifications, skills, and experience.

Applicants need to be cheerful, adaptable, patient and ready to support students with a range of needs. Previous experience of working with young people is preferable but not essential as induction, training and support will be provided. Hours are 30 per week, 8.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m., term time only. This position is suitable for someone who is just starting out on their career in education, looking to gain experience before undertaking teacher training or maybe an experienced Teaching Assistant/HLTA looking for a new opportunity. Example actual salary for 30 hrs per week, term time only: £17,305 - £20,521 per annum, including fringe.

Awarded a 'Good' rating by Ofsted in January 2023, Stanborough School is an 11-18 co-educational Academy that sits on the southern fringe of Welwyn Garden City with easy access to the A1 and London. Due to parental demand for places at the school, from September 2019 the school expanded to 8 form entry. Stanborough is proud of its community involvement. We work closely with the four other local Secondary Schools as part of the Welwyn-Hatfield 16-19 Consortium. With a dedicated Art and Technology block, Sports Hall, Sixth Form Centre and the recently constructed MFL and Humanities and Music and Drama teaching blocks the students enjoy some outstanding facilities. Our excellent resources in all curriculum areas also show our commitment to giving students a wide variety of curricular opportunities including technology, the performing arts and computing.

Our greatest asset at the school is our staff. We want the best educators for our students and through exceptional retention we have a stable staff with very low turn-over. A number of staff who started at the school as NQTs now find themselves in senior positions at the school. We have a strong support team and many staff have remained with the school for several years.
