What skills and experience we're looking for
The school would like to appoint a dedicated and patient Teaching Assistant to join our hard-working team to work with children supporting in class and with interventions. With a keen interest in nurturing independent learners, the successful candidate will enable our children to access all elements of the curriculum, through the delivery of high-quality interventions under the direction of a class teacher and through actively engaging students in their learning so that they achieve positive outcomes. The ability to establish high expectations of work and behaviour is vital, as is the ability to provide objective and accurate feedback to the class teacher.
Kenmont is a one-form entry nursery and primary school located in the College Park area within the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. Our school is a community school maintained by Hammersmith and Fulham Local Authority. The school is situated in the North West of the Borough and many of our pupils come from the neighbouring Borough of Brent.
Kenmont is part of a Federation with Brackenbury Primary and Wendell Park Primary Schools, both in LBHF. We share an Executive Head teacher and offer staff many opportunities to work with colleagues across our partnership of school and share best practice and undertake joint professional development.
We are seeking to appoint someone who has….
- Experience of working with relevant age groups within a learning environment
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs, in small groups and within the classroom
- Ability/experience of a variety of behaviour management strategies
- Able to work constructively as part of a team, understanding classroom roles and responsibilities
- Able to use basic technology – computer, photocopier, etc.
- Able to be flexible, willing to change routines and strategies at short notice
- An awareness of and commitment to the school’s training off and implementation of new strategies
- An awareness of and commitment to the council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
- An awareness of and commitment to the council’s Safeguarding procedures
Duties include...
- Supervise and support pupils, ensuring safety and access to learning
- Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to their needs
- Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
- Liaise with the class teacher and SENCO regarding pupils’ IEPs and targets
- Implement targeted support programs as advised by the SENCO and Professional Agencies (i.e. Speech and Language)
- Develop appropriate resources to support pupils as directed
- Supervise pupils during Break and Lunchtimes, adhering to the school behaviour policy at all times
