Teaching Assistant job summary
Kingswood:
It is an exciting time for Kingswood Secondary Academy. We are privileged to serve one of the most deprived communities in Northamptonshire, yet our fantastic students are now in the top third of Northamptonshire schools in terms of their academic outcomes. Contextually, this places our students in the top 5 secondary schools, out of 42, in the county. If you’d like to find out more about how we and our students work together to achieve this, and you are a hard-working individual who enjoys being part of a team, then see the details below about coming in for a ‘Walk and Talk’.
At Kingswood, we know that most staff have come into the profession to make a difference in the lives of young people, and not for the money! The staff at Kingswood make an incredible difference in the lives of the young people in our care. Based on our RISE values of Respect, Independence, Service to Community and Empathy, we have carefully cultivated a culture that is conducive to learning, where teachers can enjoy teaching and students can thrive and learn well. Lessons are settled and very purposeful, corridors are calm and students get on well with each other during social times. Staff turnover is very low, and staff attendance very high. If you feel this is the environment where you can make a difference, then come and see for yourself with one of our Walk and Talks.
This role:
We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join our Inclusion Team as a Teaching Assistant. This post will provide you with opportunities to demonstrate the inclusion and pastoral skills necessary to make a real difference to student lives. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a strong inclusion background, to support the wider school’s ethos and values in raising students’ achievement (progress, attendance, behaviour and attitudes) and ensuring students with special educational needs excel.
We are recruiting an exceptional candidate as a Teaching Assistant to work in close partnership with the SENDCo, Learning Support Unit Manager and wider Inclusion Team to embed the school’s vision and continue to develop an excellent school that empowers our students to take responsibility and drive their own destinies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow with the school, and they will be supported in their development.
You will:
- Have an unwavering determination to deliver excellence for pupils from all starting points
- Share Kingswood’s beliefs, vision and mission and be aligned with our RISE values underpinning everything we do
- Be committed to Kingswood’s ethos of high expectations for every pupil in both academic achievement and personal development.
- Manage behaviour effectively to create a positive, calm and purposeful climate for learning
- Have the drive, skills and resilient character required to help drive a school onto new heights
- Work with identified students with special education needs
- Be reflective about the Academy and committed to securing its continued development
- Value and support practices driving continued progress across the network of GAT schools
The successful candidate will be joining an extremely experienced and highly effective Inclusion Team. We are proud that our most recent Ofsted Inspection report highlighted the highly ambitious and inclusive nature of our school, in particular the excellent SEND support provided to all of our students with additional learning needs.
Our Walk & Talk invitation to you:
We warmly welcome potential candidates to come on what we refer to as a ‘Walk and Talk’. This usually takes less than an hour, can be during the academy day or after school has finished. We find this provides a great opportunity for candidates to get a really good insight into Kingswood, prior to submitting an application. Please email jlawson@kingswoodsecondaryacademy.org (Senior Deputy Principal) if you would like to come in for a ‘Walk and Talk’.
