Teaching Assistant (Level 1) & Midday Supervisor job summary

Join Hampton Gardens School as a Teaching Assistant (Level 1) and Midday Supervisor, supporting students both in the classroom and during lunchtime. This combined role offers the opportunity to contribute to students’ learning, wellbeing, and overall school experience throughout the day.
This is a fixed-term position until 31 August 2027 in the first instance.
As a Level 1 Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers to help students engage with their learning, including those with additional needs. You will play an important role in creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment and supporting behaviour for learning.
As a Midday Supervisor, you will help ensure a safe, orderly, and positive lunchtime experience, supporting students in social interactions and promoting respectful behaviour.
Your duties will include supporting individual students and small groups with learning activities, assisting students with SEND and/or additional needs, supporting literacy, numeracy, and classroom-based activities, and helping to maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed learning environment.
This role involves working closely with an experienced Inclusion Team, including the SENDCo and SEN Leadership Team, within a collaborative and supportive environment.
For this position, you will need experience working with young people, ideally within an educational setting. This role would suit someone looking to develop their skills and progress within a Teaching Assistant career pathway.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is proactive, patient, and passionate about supporting young people.

Working Hours & Salary
Teaching Assistant (Grade 4 - £24,795 to £25,583)
- Hours: 8.30am - 3.10pm (25-minute unpaid lunch break)
- Full-time: 27.5 hours/week, term time plus 5 days
- Actual salary: £15,780 - £16,282 (based on 39 weeks)
Midday Supervisor (Grade 5 - £25,583 to £26,402)
- Hours: 1.25pm - 2.10pm
- Full-time: 3.75 hours/week, term time only
- Actual salary: £2,163 - £2,232 (based on 38 weeks)
Combined Total Actual Salary
- Full-time (5 days/week, 31.25 hours): £17,943 - £18,514

Hampton Gardens is an 11-19 free school which opened in September 2017 to an initial intake of 180 Year 7 students. When full, the school will accommodate 1200 students in years 7-11 and 300 students in Sixth Form.
