Qualifications

  • NVQ /BTEC level 3 or above qualification appropriate to the post (or equivalent)

  • GCSE Grade 4 / Level 2 qualification in English and Maths

Knowledge/skills/abilities

  • Ability to develop and adapt curriculum resources to scaffold learning tasks and activities, ensuring full participation and inclusion of pupils with SEND

  • Ability to deliver specialist interventions to support academic progress and meet social, emotional and communication needs

  • Ability to assess pupil achievement and report quantitative and qualitative assessment data to teachers and leaders

  • Ability to form positive working relationships with secondary age pupils

  • Good written and verbal communication skills alongside the ability to effectively use ICT

  • Time management skills and the ability to organise and prioritise workload in a busy working environment

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Knowledge of the concept of confidentiality

  • Knowledge of classroom roles and responsibilities

St Christopher’s opened in 1958 and is an outstanding 11 - 18 Church of England Academy.Our caring community is based on a close partnership between staff, parents, pupils and governors and we foster strong links with local parishes and clergy, six of whom serve as School Chaplains. We emphasise pupils’ whole development, offering high standards of teaching in a range of courses to cater for all abilities, a wide extra-curriculum and making a priority of spiritual nurture, with religious worship and teaching at the centre of school life. We are an over-subscribed, flourishing and successful 11 – 18 Church of England Academy, an award-winning “Outstanding School” (SIAMS 2016). This year, 80% of Year 11 pupils gained at least 5 GCSE Grades 9-4 including English and mathematics, and 85% of A-level grades were awarded A*- C. The school of 1000 pupils, plus a Sixth Form of 300 pupils, is attractively and conveniently situated close to the Ribble Valley and has excellent motorway connections via M65 to M6 and M62.
