Teaching Assistant (Level 3) – Compass Room Lead job summary

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant (Compass Room Lead), you will play a key role in supporting teaching staff and working collaboratively with the wider Inclusion, SEND and Pastoral teams to enhance the development, wellbeing and educational outcomes of students with additional needs.

You will lead the day-to-day operation of Compass, providing a structured, supportive environment for students who require additional regulation, guidance, relational support or targeted intervention to engage successfully with school life and learning. Compass is a needs-led provision that aims to remove barriers to learning while maintaining students' participation in mainstream education wherever appropriate.

Your responsibilities will include supporting students through induction, assessment, intervention and ongoing review processes, helping to identify barriers to learning and implementing strategies that promote engagement, independence and positive outcomes. You will contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of targeted support programmes for individuals and small groups, monitoring progress and reporting on outcomes to teaching and pastoral staff.

You will work closely with the Achievement Support Team, SENDCo and wider Inclusion Team to ensure support is tailored to individual student needs and reviewed regularly. The role also includes promoting positive attendance, supporting successful reintegration into lessons where required, and contributing to the school's inclusive approach to SEND provision.

In addition, you will deliver targeted enrichment and intervention activities during break, lunchtime or after school as part of the Achievement Support programme.

This role involves working alongside an experienced Inclusion Team while also providing guidance and support to Level 1 and Level 2 Teaching Assistants.

For this position, you will either have previous experience as a Level 3 Teaching Assistant or substantial experience as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant and be ready to take the next step in your career.

This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for someone who is proactive, resilient and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, develop independence and succeed both academically and personally.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; this role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
