What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a skilled, confident and caring Teaching Assistant to join our team at Little Heaton CE Primary School from September 2025. This is a permanent role providing PPA cover across the school and contributing to our wider behaviour and nurture strategy.

We are a school on a journey – building a positive, inclusive culture where every child can thrive, and every member of staff is valued and supported to grow and we are looking for someone ready to get stuck in and be part of this exciting journey.

The role includes:

  • Building strong, positive relationships with children in all year groups.
  • Using effective, trauma-informed behaviour strategies to support individuals and classes.
  • Working as part of our developing approach to nurture, inclusion and emotional regulation.
  • Being a calm, consistent presence across the school – especially for children who need it most.
  • Take a leading role in supporting attendance and parental engagement, and in coordinating and guiding other support staff working within the Nurture provision, under the direction of the SENDCo.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience leading learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
  • Has a strength in behaviour support and a calm, consistent approach.
  • Understands how to support children with SEMH and additional needs in a respectful, inclusive way.
  • Is flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to the needs of different classes and situations.
  • Works well as part of a team and shares ideas to improve provision.
  • Is passionate about making a difference – especially for children who need extra support to succeed.

What the school offers its staff

In return, we offer:

  • A warm, welcoming school with children who are full of potential.
  • A staff team who are ready to work together and support each other.
  • A leadership team who value their support staff and are committed to professional development.
  • Opportunities to shape and grow our nurture and behaviour provision alongside school leaders.
  • Access to trust-wide training and collaboration through the Cranmer Education Trust.
  • Opportunities for professional development in a growing Trust
  • Schools: A strong school community that places children, families and staff at the heart of everything we do.
  • A supportive team who will work with and alongside you to achieve the very best
  • LGPS career average pension scheme with a generous employer contribution
