Teaching Assistant (Level 4) with responsibility for literacy intervention job summary

An experienced and qualified individual is required to work in partnership with the teaching staff to plan and oversee literacy interventions across both KS3 and KS4. To develop effective strategies within school to promote literacy and high levels of pupil attainment. This post requires a high level of communication skills and involves regular liaison with parents, relevant teaching and non-teaching staff and outside agencies. The role requires a high level of emotional intelligence to remove barriers to pupil learning. The post holder will work with individual pupils as well as small groups, enabling all pupils to strive, maximising their potential.

You must have excellent organisational and time management skills; be able to work independently using your own initiative as well as part of a team. Effective communication skills and an awareness of Health and Safety issues are essential.

Employees of the school have a responsibility for, and must be committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring that they are protected from harm.

Required to start as soon as possible, the role will be 35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 days to be worked outside of term time, in accordance with service requirements.
