We're looking for a compassionate and skilled teaching assistant to join our team and help make a real difference to our students' learning, confidence and sense of achievement every day.
This is a vital role. You'll work in partnership with teachers to support students so they can access the curriculum, participate fully in learning and achieve their potential. You'll help create a welcoming and inclusive classroom where every child feels valued and ready to learn.
If you're ambitious about your own career, there are genuine opportunities to grow with us. You could progress through our Level 3 and Level 5 teaching assistant apprenticeships, or even join our Initial Teacher Training programme.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- develop an understanding of students' learning needs, including specific SEND needs, to support their access to lessons and help them achieve learning objectives
- help students build independent learning skills and manage their own learning
- work in partnership with teachers to plan and assess high-quality lessons, and support individual students and small groups through targeted interventions
- build positive relationships with students and apply the school's behaviour policy consistently
- support the social, emotional, mental health, and provide personal care assistance, including toileting, hygiene and changing where required, while maintaining their dignity, privacy and independence
- work closely with teaching staff, pastoral staff, the SENDCO and parents or carers to monitor progress, record achievement and provide feedback as needed.
What we're looking for
You will have:
- GCSE maths and English (Grade 4 or above), or equivalent, or a willingness to work towards functional skills qualifications
- good communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and empathy in your interactions with students
- a reflective approach, open to feedback and committed to your own growth and best practice
- resilience when faced with challenging situations, and the ability to manage these professionally
- a collaborative approach, working as a trusted team member who understands their role and supports colleagues when needed
- a genuine commitment to equality and safeguarding the welfare of every child.
Teaching assistants employed on 20 hours per week or above who don't already hold a Level 3 teaching assistant qualification (or equivalent) will be enrolled onto our Level 3 Initial Teaching Assistant Training programme during their employment.
If you have experience working in a school or with young people, or hold a Level 3 teaching assistant qualification, that's a bonus. But above all, we're looking for someone who brings warmth, curiosity and a commitment to helping every child succeed. Could that be you?
