Teaching Assistant (Monday’s) job summary

Aston Community Education Trust (ACET) are a forward thinking and ambitious multi-academy trust, comprising of three secondary academies and nine junior academies across the Rotherham, Sheffield and North Derbyshire areas.

To be able to achieve this, we need to have a team of dedicated and outstanding staff, who will contribute to our exceptional learning community.


As part of a job share, we are seeking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic member of staff that has a willingness to complete training for teaching assistant, to support the learning and teaching of children. This role may be attractive to those who may already have experience of / or working with children in any setting and who may therefore have relevant skills and knowledge they wish to develop. Applications are also welcome from graduates seeking to gain experience in an educational environment.


Under the guidance of others, the Teaching Assistant will:


Promote and support pupil access to the curriculum

  • Support children in their learning

  • Work with class groups, individuals and small groups

  • Model and promote positive values, attitudes and behaviour

  • Have a willingness to by fully involved in the life of the academy

In addition to this role, there is an opportunity to work an additional hour on Mondays as a Breakfast Club Assistant, starting at 7.45am. This offers the chance to play a wider role in academy life and support pupils at the start of their school day. The role is based at Aughton Primary Academy but may, on occasion, involve working at other academies within the trust.

Successful candidates will be subject to a DBS check at the appropriate level. Additional checks in relation to the Childcare Disqualification Regulations will be undertaken for successful candidates to junior academies. If you have lived or worked outside of the UK, additional information may be required from you to satisfy safer recruitment checks.
