Teaching Assistant job summary


Ogbourne St George School, set in an area of outstanding beauty whose values of Relationships, Integrity, Valour, Excellence, Respect and Service are seeking a new addition to their established, friendly team.

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant, 15 hours per week term time only plus inset days. Monday - Friday mornings 9am - 12pm on a Fixed Term Contract ending on 31st August 2025, with the possibility of extension/permanency. The role may include providing individual support for a pupil with additional learning needs as well as working with whole class and small groups of children, under the direction of teaching staff, to ensure all pupils make excellent progress and reach their full potential. Our aim is to guide and nurture our children, inspiring aspiration and a love of learning - From small streams, big rivers flow.

The salary ranges from £25,185.00 pa (SCP 4) FTE to £25,989.00pa (SCP 4) FTE

Actual Part Time salary £8,555 pa (SCP 4) to £8,828 pa (SCP 6)

Start Date - ASAP

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children's learning in the classroom under the guidance of the teacher.

  • Assist with planning, preparation, and delivery of classroom activities.

  • Provide support to children with special educational needs (SEN).

  • Promote health, hygiene, and positive behaviour.

  • Help supervise children during outings and short teacher absences.

  • Support classroom organisation, tidying, and display preparation.

  • Liaise with parents and external agencies as needed.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Enjoys working with children and values learning and development.

  • Calm, flexible, organised, and a strong team player.

  • Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

  • Has prior experience working with children (preferred).

  • Maintains integrity, confidentiality, and strong communication skills.
