Teaching Assistant - RIGGS Team
Malmesbury Park Primary School, Bournemouth, Dorset
|Working pattern||Part-time only|
|Salary||£18,426 to £19,171 per year (full-time equivalent)|
Our Riggs Unit is a resourced provision for children with social communication difficulties. All children in the unit have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs) in place with Autism as their primary need. The children spend time both in Riggs and in mainstream classes as we believe all children have their own unique role to play in our rich, diverse and inclusive school population.
We strive to ensure that through careful and targeted support children will be able to access both academic and social opportunities with increasing independence. We will offer a safe and nurturing environment in which children can take ‘risks’ and practise skills in readiness for engagement in the wider social community.
The Riggs Unit can be a challenging environment to work in, so we’re looking to appoint someone special. You should have experience working with children, including those with autism or behavioural difficulties. You’ll be resilient, and not easily shocked. Some of the children in the Riggs Unit present challenging and complex behaviours, so being able to maintain an inner calm and confidence is essential. A balanced approach to difficulties using both nurture and structure is employed in Riggs, and we would like an individual who can get on board with this.
As a member of support staff at Malmesbury Park Primary School, you’ll be working in a team of like-minded individuals who all want the best for the learners in our school. You’ll have a positive sense of self, and always be willing to listen to and act on advice.
Opportunities and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary plus LGPS pension, 28 days’ holiday plus bank holidays rising to 31 days after 5 years, great career progression and development opportunities with many other benefits.
We’re proud of how we support our staff in order that you have high levels of job satisfaction, are aware of the difference you are making for the children and families you work with and can see your contribution towards out community. There are regular opportunities for professional development and training, and a wider community of staff to network with within Reach South Multi Academy Trust. You will have the chance to visit other local schools, work alongside a range of outside professionals and take part in a variety of e-learning and face-to-face training.
