Based at Scartho Gateway Academy
32.5 hours per week
195 days per year
£19,034.75 Actual Salary
Scartho Gateway Academy opened in September 2025 for 75 pupils and will eventually provide for up to 210 mainstream pupils, from Reception to Year 6.
The Academy also includes an RSP, which will cater for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Teaching assistants will work closely with the class teacher, alongside the SENDCO, in collaborating with staff across the Academy to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum is provided for our children, including those accessing the RSP.
We are looking for an experienced teaching assistant who demonstrates a strong desire to ensure all children are able to develop their skills and confidence, using adaptive, personalised teaching strategies. Initially, the role will be as a 1:1 support for a child with some physical disabilities, though this role will also incorporate the role of a general teaching assistant role. Some experience of working with children with disabilities is desirable but not essential.
The successful candidate will hold ambitious expectations for all students, including those with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively.
Scartho Gateway Academy is working closely with Trauma Informed Schools UK to support the development of our vision, values and curriculum. It is essential that the successful candidate champions our principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with our children to create a safe learning environment.
An ability to be creative and adaptable is crucial. Experience of working with children across key stages is desirable. A commitment to ensuring the new academies are fully inclusive schools is essential.
Our ethos is one of an uncompromising drive to achieve the highest standards of outcomes and behaviour in a safe environment, which encourages every student to experience an exciting and creative climate for learning. We place a strong emphasis upon pastoral care and teaching assistants will share the determination to offer the very best to our students so that they can thrive personally and academically.
The role will start in November 2025, though we can be flexible, depending on the availability of a suitable candidate. There may also be opportunities for the successful candidates to extend their hours through our wraparound care provision, either before school or after school. This is not essential for this application but if this something that would interest you, it would be useful to mention this in your application.
A full package of on-going CPD is in place to support our staff team as part of the whole school relational approach. This will include regular supervision.
