What skills and experience we're looking for

Newark Orchard School is a Special School in Balderton providing education to 170 students with a range of special educational needs aged between 3 and 18.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated teaching assistant to contribute towards the achievements of this happy school. Preferably you will have worked within a busy educational environment but appropriate special educational needs training will be provided.

You will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • A passion for working with pupils with SEND who exhibit behaviours which can challenge linked to their needs.
  • Resilience alongside the ability to work as part of a team to support exciting, alternative learning opportunities for our young people.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be able to communicate confidently and appropriately with staff, pupils and parents
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills preferably equivalent to GCSE Grade C

The job role specifically requires the post holder

  • To hold a Level 3 child care qualification or equivalent

  • To oversee the day to day implementation of the Sensory Policy
  • To deliver sensory interventions with identified pupils across the school
  • To record progress of the pupils to contribute towards their targets
  • To attend relevant training to support the role
