We are looking for a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join our team and support pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning, develop their independence and reach their individual potential.
You will work alongside our SEND class teacher and wider school team, supporting pupils with complex needs within the classroom, our alternative provision and other learning environments where appropriate.
About the role
As a SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will play an important role in helping pupils feel safe, included and ready to learn. You will provide individual and small-group support, adapting activities and resources to meet pupils' individual needs and abilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting teaching and learning activities to help pupils access the curriculum and achieve their individual targets.
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and responding sensitively to their individual needs.
- Encouraging communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.
- Promoting positive behaviour through consistent, nurturing and supportive approaches.
- Supporting pupils with personal care where required, maintaining their dignity, privacy and safety.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, colleagues, parents and external professionals to provide consistent support.
- Contributing to the monitoring of pupils' progress and the development of effective support strategies.
- Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils at all times.
About you
- We are looking for someone who is:
- Caring and compassionate, with a genuine commitment to supporting children with SEND.
- Patient and resilient, able to remain calm and positive when faced with challenges.
- Flexible and adaptable, willing to respond to the changing needs of pupils and the school day.
- A good communicator, able to build trusting relationships with children and work effectively as part of a team.
- Committed to inclusion, recognising that every child is unique and deserves the opportunity to thrive.
- Keen to learn, with a willingness to develop their knowledge and skills through training and professional development.
Experience of working with children with SEND or complex needs would be beneficial. However, we would particularly welcome applications from individuals who have the right personal qualities, a positive attitude and a genuine desire to make a difference.
Why join Hadrian Academy?
This is an opportunity to be part of a team committed to helping children feel valued, develop new skills and achieve their potential.
