Teaching Assistant to support SEND pupil/s and teach phonics

Termly Time only

39 weeks per year

8.15am to 3.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday Friday, 8.15am to 4pm Tuesday

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?
Do you have experience or an interest in supporting the teaching of early literacy and phonics?

We are seeking a caring, committed, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive school team. The successful candidate will support SEND pupils across the school and deliver high-quality Read, Write, Inc phonics interventions, helping every child achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND

  • Deliver structured phonics lessons and support classroom phonics teaching using Read Write Inc.

  • Work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning activities

  • Support pupils’ emotional, social, and behavioural development

  • Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to staff and parents as appropriate

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Experience working with children with SEND (desirable but not essential)

  • Knowledge of or willingness to train in phonics programmes

  • A patient, flexible, and nurturing approach

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) are an advantage
