Teaching Assistant job summary

At Widden Primary School we are looking for a caring and committed Teaching Assistant to join our team.

This is a rewarding role at the heart of the classroom, supporting children in their learning, wellbeing and personal development. You will work closely with teachers and pupils to help every child access learning, overcome barriers and feel successful in school.

Working alongside teachers and other colleagues, you will provide targeted support that enables children to engage with learning, overcome challenges and develop the confidence and skills they need to flourish throughout their primary education.

What You Will Do As A Teaching Assistant:

  • Support the learning and development of children 1:1 or as part of a group
  • Ensure the pupils’ needs are met and liaise with staff as appropriate to ensure the pupils are able to make progress with their learning.
  • To undertake those activities necessary to foster the intellectual and social development of children and extend the children’s language.
  • To actively engage in the delivery of lessons and activities developed by teaching staff.To actively engage in the delivery of lessons and activities developed by teaching staff.


We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Experience of interacting with Primary age children
  • Can communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
  • Able to deliver and adapt high quality primary curriculum with a specific focus on overlearning and precision teaching.
