As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs to join our team. Whether your experience is rooted in EYFS or in working with children with high‑needs SEN, we would be delighted to hear from you.

You will work closely with children with high‑needs SEN and play an important role in helping them thrive. At Cringleford, you will join a committed, skilled and supportive team who are united by a love of learning and a belief that every child deserves to be valued, understood and celebrated. Our modern, purpose‑built school—situated just off the A11/A47 Thickthorn interchange with easy access to Norwich—offers excellent facilities and a creative, engaging curriculum. Working pattern: Monday to Friday 8.30 to 3.15pm with ½ hour for lunch.


What the Role Involves

You will:

  • Support pupils’ wellbeing, learning and independence
  • Work closely with teachers to mentor and guide pupils
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children
  • Collaborate with the SENCo and SLT to ensure children receive the right support
  • Support children during learning sessions and lunchtimes, including promoting positive behaviour and engagement
  • Break down barriers to learning so that all pupils can access the curriculum
  • Support children with SEMH needs and help them regulate and reconnect
  • Attend meetings related to pupil welfare and progress
  • Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting high‑needs SEN pupils
  • Successful recent experience as a Teaching Assistant
  • Understanding of barriers to learning, including SEMH needs
  • Knowledge of effective behaviour‑support strategies
  • Ability to motivate learners with differing needs
  • Calm, empathetic approach and strong interpersonal skills
  • Problem‑solving mindset and resilience
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
