Salary: NJC Grade C: £25,989 - £26,403 FTE (This will be paid pro-rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)

Working Pattern: These are full-time and part-time positions, working either 39 weeks per year or 52 weeks per year. Part-time hours to be determined. (Monday to Friday)

South Brent Primary School is seeking to recruit a full staff team of nursery practitioners for its new nursery, “Little Roots and Shoots Nursery & Pre-School”, birth – 4yrs, planned to open in September 2026. This is a very exciting opportunity with a range of roles available.

Little Roots and Shoots Nursery & Pre-School will be based in a beautiful large building, specifically designed to accommodate children under the age of 5, that sits on the South Brent Primary School site. It will form part of a new EYFS Unit, with the school’s reception aged children learning alongside the nursery children. It will be open for 48 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 6pm. Working patterns of newly appointed staff will be matched to the session needs in the nursery and preschool. Therefore, the C Grade Nursery & Pre-School teaching assistant roles we will be offered are as follows:

A Full time working - 52 weeks per year

B Full time working - 39 school weeks per year

C Part time working - 52 weeks per year (exact hours to be agreed)

D Part time working - 39 school weeks per year (exact hours to be agreed)

South Brent sits a short distance from the A38 and if very accessible for staff travelling from the local areas around Totnes and Ivybridge. The school and the nursery & pre-school are part of The Harbour Schools Partnership, a multi academy trust with many successful nurseries. Staff joining our teams benefit from a wide range of training opportunities, and support.

Applicants will ideally have a Level 2 Early Years qualification, NVQ or equivalent, and preferably have some recent experience of working with nursery and/or pre-school age children. However, If you have experience but not a Level 2 qualification, we also welcome your application as it may be possible to provide Level 2 training for suitable applicants. If you feel you have the necessary knowledge, skills, experience and enthusiasm to join our new Early Years team, we would love to hear from you.
