Start Date: As soon as possible

Our Lady of Compassion Catholic School is seeking to appoint a dedicated, enthusiastic and caring member of staff to join our vibrant Teaching and Learning Support Team.

Guided by our mission statement, "To live as Jesus taught us," we are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive and aspirational environment where every child is known, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. We are a welcoming Catholic school community where strong relationships, high expectations and a commitment to the wellbeing and success of every child underpin all that we do.

If you are passionate about making a positive difference to children's lives, embodying Catholic values, and supporting pupils to thrive both academically and personally, we would be delighted to hear from you.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Committed to supporting and promoting the Catholic ethos of our school.
  • Enthusiastic about helping children achieve their academic, social and emotional potential.
  • Able to work effectively as part of a team while demonstrating initiative, flexibility and a proactive approach.
  • Patient, nurturing and compassionate, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and families.
  • Reliable, organised and committed to maintaining high standards.
  • Passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The successful candidate will:

  • Uphold and model the school's Catholic values, supporting children to live out our mission statement, "To live as Jesus taught us," through kindness, respect, compassion and service to others.
  • Work as part of a supportive and experienced Teaching and Learning Support Team to meet the needs of pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Provide targeted one-to-one support for pupils with identified additional needs.
  • Support the class teacher in delivering high-quality teaching and learning within the classroom.
  • Provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups to ensure all children can access the curriculum, engage successfully in learning and make progress.
  • Deliver small-group interventions to support pupils' academic, social, emotional and personal development.
  • Adapt and scaffold learning activities to enable pupils to access learning successfully and achieve their individual potential.
  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including communication and interaction difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, cognition and learning needs, and sensory or physical needs.
  • Foster pupils' confidence, independence, resilience and self-esteem.
  • Develop positive, trusting relationships with children through patience, understanding and encouragement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, families and external professionals to ensure children receive the support they need to thrive.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of pupil progress and the evaluation of support strategies.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure that all pupils are able to participate fully in every aspect of school life.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, particularly those with additional needs, whilst working as part of a caring and dedicated team committed to ensuring that every child flourishes academically, socially and emotionally.

As a member of our Teaching and Learning Support Team, you will have the opportunity to build strong, positive and holistic relationships with pupils throughout their school journey, playing a key role in their learning, wellbeing and personal development.

We offer a supportive and welcoming working environment where staff wellbeing is valued, teamwork is celebrated, and opportunities to share best practice, develop professionally and contribute new ideas are actively encouraged.
