What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint a reliable and hardworking Technician to complement the professional work of our teaching staff. The main aspect of this role is to provide support in specialist curriculum areas in the preparation and maintenance of resources and equipment. This role will predominantly support design technology with some food technology. You will need to be good-humoured, resilient and enjoy working with young people aged 11-18. Previous technician experience would be an advantage but not essential. You will receive an induction programme and on the job training.

You will be required to work 30 hours per week term time only, 6 hours daily (times to be agreed upon appointment).

Main responsibilities:

  • supporting students in accessing learning activities under teacher guidance

  • creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and productive working environment

  • timely and accurate preparation and use of specialist equipment, resources and materials

  • monitoring and managing stock and supplies

  • maintenance of specialist equipment: checking for quality/safety; undertaking repairs and modifications; reporting damages and needs
