Temporary Teacher of MFL required job summary
Required for 2 terms an enthusiastic, well-qualified and successful classroom practitioner to join our successful and vibrant MFL department. The post could be part-time or full-time. You would be joining a team of 5 language specialists who are supported by a specialist TA and foreign language assistants. It is a great team to join.
We are looking for a colleague who can teach Spanish up to GCSE level; A level teaching is also available. The ability to offer some French teaching in KS3 would be an advantage. The department currently offers courses in French and Spanish at GCSE and A Level in our very successful Joint Sixth form. As a former language college the school has retained its commitment to languages and there is an excellent take up for the subject. Even though we have now chosen to make languages non-compulsory at GCSE Spanish remains a very popular option subject.
Our academy is high performing and in 2018 attainment was above the National Average in all of the key performance measures. The 3 year average individual ALPS grade is ‘outstanding’ for all languages in our Sixth Form. In 2018 Spanish again achieved the ‘outstanding’ benchmark.
This is a great time to join our school as we consolidate links with the three feeder primary schools which form part of our Multi-Academy Trust (The Minerva Learning Trust). We work closely with colleagues across the MLT, sharing ideas about assessment, literacy, numeracy and other areas of pedagogy. We are members of the Jurassic Coast Teaching Alliance, which enables us to participate in a diverse range of initiatives, including the Women in Leadership programme and CPD seminars from notable speakers such as Deborah Myhill and Daisy Christodoulou. We are an outwardly facing school in a beautiful part of the country and have strong links with our local community as a Rights Respecting School. We are committed to managing staff workload and have a Staff Wellbeing and Stress Reduction Working Group.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. We accept applications from all potential candidates including NQT, main scale and UPS colleagues. Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the Head of MFL Faculty, Mr Neil Allies alliesn@colfox.dorset.sch.uk or 01308 422291. Visits to the school are also warmly accepted.
An application form and details can also be downloaded from either the school website: www.colfox.org or you can apply online at: www.dorsetforyou.com/jobs. Completed application forms should be emailed to the Headteacher’s PA, Amanda Tuck a.tuck@colfox.dorset.sch.uk
