Trust Lead Field Technician job summary

Purpose

The Trustees are seeking to appoint a Trust Lead Field Technician support our Trust development and provide outstanding support to the staff, students, parents and wider community. The successful candidate must be able to work flexibly across a range of tasks and sites to support all key stakeholders as required.

General Responsibilities

You will provide IT support across the Trust as required, supporting Headteachers, staff and students, working alongside our external IT support provider, other IT support partners and with our IT Assistant. Completing tasks, closing issues, and managing stakeholders’ needs and queries to high standards. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate good attention to detail and have a flexible approach to their work.  You will provide face-to-face support whilst being supported by an external IT support company who provide higher level IT support.

External IT Support

The Trust has a comprehensive external IT support contract in place, providing daily remote support and support / project days on-site. In addition, we hold support contracts for other aspects of our IT infrastructure such as printing/CCTV. The Trust Lead Field Technician will work closely with all external partners, reporting issues and liaising on solutions.

Main Responsibilities

You will be working as part of the supportive and friendly team, and your main responsibilities will include duties such as:

  • Providing support either face-to-face or via remote systems to both staff and students across all Trust schools.
  • Regular visits (likely to be at least weekly) to all Trust schools to solve in-person queries and maintain good relationships with staff.
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks on hardware such as printers, servers and desktops.
  • 1st & 2nd line support duties.
  • Liaising with external organisations who provide services to the schools
  • Monitoring the performance of the network and systems
  • Working to ensure technical issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Maintain documentation of equipment, services and configurations to enable efficient management of equipment and resources
  • Investigate sources of supply for hardware, software and, if appropriate, consumables ensuring adequate working levels of stock
  • To provide information to support IT procurement of ongoing systems and requirements and to inform future purchases
  • To ensure that all IT systems and linked software are set up and maintained for each academic year
  • Assist with the development of Trust policies and procedures with regards to standards of operation and use of ICT equipment throughout the academy and ensure that they are applied.
  • Assisting with day-to-day IT related admin tasks

Other responsibilities

  • The post-holder will determine priorities and scheduling of work in conjunction with the Chief Finance Operations Officer (CFOO), and external IT support provider, including face-to-face and online learning for our pupils
  • To meet with Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Headteachers to ensure they are kept up to date with projects, planned work and general support.
  • To support and line manage the IT Assistant (also based at David Nieper Academy)
  • Provide ongoing advice and guidance to the Headteachers at schools within or seeking to join the Trust.
  • To support with academy events and activities with IT/media support
  • The manual lifting and moving of equipment where necessary
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties within the overall function, commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the job.
