What skills and experience we're looking for
Bruntcliffe Academy is seeking to recruit an exceptional colleague to the role of Vice Principal. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly successful and ambitious leader to join our senior leadership team and play a pivotal role in the continued development of the academy.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal, Executive Principal and wider leadership team to secure the highest standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and personal development for all students. They will provide strategic and operational leadership, drive academy improvement and contribute significantly to ensuring every young person achieves their full potential.
We are looking for an inspirational leader with a proven track record of improving outcomes, developing colleagues and creating a culture of high expectations and excellence. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering exceptional educational provision, supporting staff and students to thrive and contributing to the realisation of the academy's vision and values.
Potential applicants should have:
- Successful senior leadership experience within a secondary school setting.
- A proven track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes.
- Experience of leading curriculum development, teaching and learning, assessment and school improvement.
- Experience of developing and leading colleagues through professional development.
- A strong commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for disadvantaged students and students with SEND.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to analyse and make effective use of data to drive improvement.
Experience of successfully leading curriculum development, teaching and learning, assessment and whole-school improvement.
Applicants should also have:
- A detailed understanding of current educational developments and evidence-informed practice.
- A commitment to securing exceptional outcomes for all students.
- The ambition, resilience and determination required to lead in a high-performing secondary academy.

Bruntcliffe Academy is an increasingly popular 11-16 comprehensive school with approximately 1400 students on roll. The school is situated in Morley which is on the outskirts of the thriving city of Leeds, with a very good motorway access to all areas of the north of England and beyond.
The school joined the highly successful GORSE Academies Trust which has a national reputation for its excellence in 2015. Since this time, the academy has been on an upward trajectory in all aspects of its work. Bruntcliffe Academy in 2024 received a Good judgement from Ofsted with inspectors recognising that the academy has ‘high expectations of all pupils’. We are proud that Ofsted commented positively on students' respect for others, their enjoyment of school and their high academic achievements
