What skills and experience we're looking for
Lavington School is looking to appoint an inspiring and dedicated leader of visual creative arts to join us in January 2026. We are looking for a leader who can engage, inspire and challenge our students through Art, Photography and Graphics. The successful candidate must demonstrate a passion for these subjects and have the drive to further develop an already high performing curriculum area.
Key responsibilities will be focused on maintaining and developing an aspirational curriculum that engages students of all abilities and to enhance and further develop a high performing KS5 offer in the visual arts.
This post would suit an inspirational teacher who is ready to take on a leadership role within creative arts and to work with a talented group of teachers in a school where art, photography and graphics are highly valued by students, staff and parents.
The working hours for this role are expected to be, 1.0.Some of your duties and responsibilities will include supporting the school in developing a subject culture that is committed to improvement through raising achievement and high aspirations. The successful candidate will implement strategies to improve the teaching of all staff within art photography and graphics, including the sharing of best practice. You must be able to demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy, articulacy and the correct use of standard English.

The John of Gaunt School is large and dynamic school with approximately 1270 students on roll. We are currently a single Academy and actively promote collaboration with our feeder primary schools through the Trowbridge Schools’ Social Enterprise - Collaborative Schools Ltd and the West Wiltshire Alliance; a partnership of 8 secondary schools and Wiltshire College. Our school roll is rising significantly each year and our reputation has accelerated over the last two years.
